I’m twenty-four years old and I’m an architecture student in my final year. I’m very active and I have plenty of friends who I often go out with for an aperitif or after-dinner drink! I was born and brought up in Bologna and I now live in a flat near the university.
The area is very convenient, there’s everything you need close to home: the bar at the end of the street, the baker’s and a traditional general store just around the corner; an organic greengrocer’s will soon be opening on a side street!
The open space flat has large exposed white beams; the spacious, light and airy combined living room and kitchen forms the focal point of the home. This room leads to the covered terrace overlooking the city where guests can have breakfast.
I have always lived here, first with my parents but when I started university they moved into our house in the hills.
At last I was able to store away the sofa cover with lilac flowers my mother loved so much and replace her collection of wooden animals with my teapots.
It gives me great satisfaction when guests staying here leave me cute little notes about my collection or send me photos they took while they were using one of my teapots for their breakfast in the kitchen!
That’s because, during the holidays I go and stay with my parents outside the city to get some fresh air and I leave the flat to visiting tourists. I spend hours choosing the right guest. I read their profiles, look at their photos and then I let my instinct guide me. Up until now it has always been right!
Including that time when amongst the booking requests there was a certain Salvatore, a thirty-year-old Sicilian looking for a place to spend New Year’s Eve.
“I need to start the New Year far away from everything, in a city that inspires me”, he wrote in his e-mail. That was our first contact and we have been in touch ever since! He still lives in Trapani and is one of the city’s most famous chefs.
I don’t like cooking, it seems a waste of time to me!
Even so I wanted to devote plenty of space to the kitchen to offer my guests a comfortable and practical area.
I prefer to devote my time to my two great passions: films and horses!
The cinema is just a ten-minute walk and on the way back you can stop off at the typical restaurant nearby which has been run for years by the legendary Mario. His tagliatelle al ragù are second to none! I recommend them to all those who are lazy when it comes to cooking like me!
